In the recent second-degree trial for debts owed to his employees, Alexandros Lykourezos was found guilty of violating labor laws. The court sentenced him to a 30-month suspended prison sentence due to non-payment of leave allowances and Easter bonuses when he closed his legal office. Gianni Economou, speaking on Mega’s ‘Buongiorno’ show, revealed that Lykourezos is preparing his next moves. ‘We are waiting for the enforcement, and until then, everything is fine,’ she stated. She emphasized the dissatisfaction with such judicial decisions but expressed confidence in the final outcome. ‘We will appeal to the Areios Pagos. I stand by him; this is my duty. I am beside him as he has been for me, and we move forward together,’ Economou declared. The defense lawyer noted that the case could have ended differently if it weren’t for the defendant’s name. ‘If anyone else were in his place, the sentence would have been three months,’ suggesting bias influenced by the defendant’s profession and reputation. Lykourezos feels aggrieved because he claims he was always consistent in payments, especially to his employees, offering salaries well above the required labor standards, which he believes were not adequately acknowledged.
