The AKTOR Group and Motor Oil have signed a preliminary agreement under which AKTOR will acquire a 50% stake in Dioriga GAS — the company responsible for developing and operating Greece’s floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) for liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Strategic Energy Infrastructure Move
According to AKTOR’s official announcement, the two companies have agreed on a framework of key terms for the proposed transaction involving ‘Dioriga GAS Monoprosopi Anonymi Etaireia Fysikou Aerioy’ — the legal entity behind the FSRU project. The unit is expected to connect directly to Greece’s National Natural Gas Transmission System.
Broader Investment Strategy
This deal aligns with AKTOR’s broader strategic plan to become a leading industrial force in Southeastern Europe by 2031, backed by a €3 billion investment commitment. The group aims to diversify its revenue streams and expand into high-growth economic sectors — particularly LNG infrastructure and critical energy assets.
Next Steps and Conditions
The transaction remains subject to several conditions, including finalization and signing of definitive agreements between the parties, as well as obtaining all required corporate, regulatory, and other approvals.
The proposed acquisition supports AKTOR’s long-term strategy to strengthen its footprint in critical energy infrastructure and contribute to energy supply security and source diversification — both in Greece and across the wider region.
AKTOR will continue to inform investors in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements as material developments occur.
