Aitoloakarnania: Bank Robbery Described by Eyewitness

in

The investigation into the cinematic-style bank robbery in Katohi has been assigned to the Organized Crime Division. The unknown perpetrators escaped with €200,000. Every move of the robbers was meticulously planned. The two men, armed with an AK-47 and a pistol, and with their faces covered, initially immobilized six employees and seven customers. After spreading fear, they led them to the vault area and kept them there for about ten minutes while they managed to open it. Subsequently, they fled with the money, and their vehicles were found hours later abandoned near the Acheloos River and the Matarakas region. An eyewitness described the event: “First, the short man wearing a black balaclava entered the bank, followed by his taller accomplice.” The short man shouted “robbery” and ordered everyone to raise their hands. He also descended into the basement with the manager and took the money from the vault. “The robbers were informed,” emphasized the mayor of Katohi, Georgios Plastiras. This marks the fourth time this specific bank has been robbed. There is a significant lack of police presence in the area, with the patrol unit arriving after 35 minutes. Investigations continue, analyzing security camera footage frame by frame.
