A close friend of the 54-year-old woman murdered alongside her 26-year-old son in Aigio told LiveNews that he believes the suspect — an Italian national — had an accomplice. Nine days after the double homicide, relatives of the victims appeared in court early on 17 June to support the prosecution’s case against the accused.
‘He Had Help Hiding Evidence’
The friend, who was notified shortly after the crime, has not yet submitted a formal supplementary statement to authorities. ‘I believe the Italian had help hiding evidence,’ he said on camera. ‘The man had planned it carefully — he thought the Olympian was taking the relationship too far.’
According to his account, the victim had appeared increasingly exhausted and withdrawn in recent weeks, troubled by something she never openly discussed with those closest to her. ‘She didn’t tell us friends anything incriminating about the Italian,’ he added.
Unanswered Questions
Many questions remain. How is it possible that the 65-year-old man — who was reportedly sleeping in the living room the night of the murders — heard nothing from the adjacent room where the killings occurred? Furthermore, although police say the crime scene was meticulously cleaned, no bucket or sponge was found inside the house — raising suspicions that the perpetrator removed all cleaning tools after the act.
Investigators are confident the crime scene was altered and that the suspect disposed of the materials he used.

Though the Italian suspect had lived in Greece for at least 15 years, he maintained few social ties. The family friend recalled seeing the 65-year-old regularly in the company of just one other person — someone he has not seen since the murders. ‘There was an Italian friend who used to spend time with them every day — he hasn’t even come to light a candle here,’ the witness said.
