Afghanistan: US warns Taliban with airstrikes

The commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, General Scott Miller, has not ruled out airstrikes against the Taliban.

If Islamist insurgents continue to occupy territory in the country, as the withdrawal of US troops is underway.

Fighting has escalated in Afghanistan since US troops began withdrawing in May, with the Taliban claiming to have occupied at least 100 of the country’s more than 400 regions.

Typically, the withdrawal of US forces should be completed by September 11, a deadline set by US President Joe Biden.
