Mitsotaki – Erdogan communication on Afghanistan

Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have a telephone conversation with Recep Tayyip Erdogan this afternoon in the wake of the rapid developments in Afghanistan with the recapture of power by the Taliban.

The Prime Minister and the Turkish President will speak this afternoon at 19:30, in order to discuss the new data that have been formed in Afghanistan but also about the refugee flows that are expected in the near future.

Athens considers that contact with Turkey is necessary, as the wider region and especially the two countries may be affected by new refugee flows, which will arise from the developments in Afghanistan and, therefore, are facing the same problem.

In any case, according to government sources, Greece will continue to show the same efficiency in guarding both land and sea borders, as it does to date.
