Afghanistan: A second Qatar Airways flight departed with foreign nationals

A second Qatar Airways flight departed from Kabul to Doha today, carrying a total of 156 passengers, journalists reported.

The first passenger flight from Kabul International Airport took place on Thursday, following the capture of the capital by the Taliban.

Of the 156 people on board, 49 were French or members of the families of French citizens. About 100 foreigners left Afghanistan yesterday, 10 of them Americans, 11 US residents, 43 Canadians, and 13 Dutch.

These two flights, for the first time since the final withdrawal of US forces on August 30, show that the airport is very close to reopening for commercial flights, especially thanks to the efforts made by Qatar.
