The Piraeus Court of First Instance ordered the immediate release of the sea area at the point where the leak was observed and thus begins the restoration of damage to its underwater pipeline by the manufacturer. It is recalled that a few days ago, Nikos Chardalias – with two letters from him – called for the complete restoration of the damage by the project’s contractor as defined by the contractual obligations of the company under the relevant contract, while the Prosecutor also accepted the request of the Region of Attica to appoint a special independent expert who will monitor every phase of the restoration for the proper execution of the project. In this context, rehabilitation work will be supervised by the Port Corps’ Submarine Missions Unit, as well as a second independent expert. Under the order of Nikos Hardalia, a meeting will be held on Monday between the technical services of the Region, representatives of the Port Corps and the contractor, so that the restoration work on the pipeline will begin in the middle of the week. It is noted that for the case, the Regional Chief of Attica had filed, a month ago, a petition against every person in charge of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Piraeus, a move that was necessary for the divers of the Port Corps to be able to perform an autopsy at the point of damage and in order to “run” quickly all the necessary procedures, after the various problems over the previous period with water supply on the island of Aegina.
