In a statement released on Friday afternoon (16/5/25), Adidas addressed the controversy surrounding its drone show against the backdrop of the Acropolis, which sparked reactions and led to legal intervention. The company emphasized that ‘the drone show held at the Zappeion Megaron on May 15 proceeded after obtaining and complying with all necessary permits.’ Adidas further stated that ‘the drones strictly flew over the Zappeion area as per the permits obtained, and no images of the Acropolis monument were used by Adidas for advertising or other purposes.’ Meanwhile, Minister of National Economy and Economic Affairs, Kyriakos Pierakkis, has requested explanations from the Zappeion management regarding the permits granted to Adidas for the drone show. This incident involved a shoe seemingly ‘stepping’ on the sacred rock of the Acropolis, prompting an official notice against any responsible parties from the Ministry of Culture.
