The award-winning American actress and producer Viola Davis will be honoured with Cecil B. DeMille (Cesil B. DeMille) at the 82nd award ceremony of . The film and television actress has been recognized for a series of strong roles, including in the films “The Help” and “The Woman King”. Viola Davis was nominated for Golden Globes seven times and won in category II Women’s Role for her performance in the film transfer of “Fences”, a film for which she also won an Oscar. The film was directed by her co-star, also holder of the Cecil B. DeMil award, Denzel Washington. The president of the Golden Globes, Helen Hohen expressed admiration for the actress’s dedication to her art and its impact on industry. “Davis, one of 27 EGOT holders in history (Emmi, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) is a brilliant actress whose deep talent constantly changes the lens through which we see and understand cinema” he stressed. “Viola’s courage in portraying complex, powerful characters has thrown down obstacles and opened new roads” he stressed adding that it is a symbol of excellence. The Cecil B. DeMille Award is one of the highest honorary distinctions of the Golden Globes. It has been awarded 69 of Hollywood’s greatest talents, including Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford and Sydney Poitier. The award ceremony will take place on 3 January, while two days later, on 5 January Viola Davis will also be present at the Golden Spheres award ceremony. Golden Sphere nominations will be announced on Monday, December 9.
