Director of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), Giorgos Pitsilis, and Rector of the University of West Attica (UNIWA), Professor Panagiotis Kaldes, signed an Educational and Research Cooperation Memorandum today (8 July 2026). The agreement establishes a new framework to strengthen education, research, and innovation in Greece.

A Joint Initiative for Public Administration Excellence

The collaboration will be implemented through AADE’s Tax and Customs Academy and UNIWA’s Department of Accounting and Finance. Its core objectives include knowledge transfer, generation of new academic insights, and development of modern educational initiatives that support effective public administration.

Key Areas of Cooperation

Under the memorandum, the two institutions will jointly organize in-person and online training programs, seminars, and conferences; develop collaborative research projects; participate in European funding programs; support student internships, thesis work, and staff exchanges; and share access to educational infrastructure, scientific resources, and library collections.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, AADE Director Giorgos Pitsilis said: “Our excellence strategy rests on continuous human capital development and close collaboration with the academic community. This partnership with UNIWA’s Department of Accounting and Finance creates a strong platform for exchanging knowledge and best practices — all aimed at building a modern, efficient public administration.”

UNIWA Rector Professor Panagiotis Kaldes added: “This memorandum marks a strategic alliance between the University of West Attica and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue. It strengthens our university’s connection with public administration and society at large. Our Department of Accounting and Finance offers a high-quality, internationally recognized curriculum, a contemporary pedagogical approach, and a strong practical orientation — equipping students with the skills needed to meet today’s labor market demands and build successful professional careers.

“Through this cooperation, we are opening up new opportunities for education, research, and hands-on experience — helping cultivate highly skilled professionals who combine technical competence, a strong sense of responsibility, and meaningful contributions to both the public and private sectors. UNIWA remains firmly committed to outward engagement, academic excellence, and partnerships that generate knowledge, foster innovation, and create value for our students and society.”
