AAD Introduces Advanced System to Monitor Trucks and Containers by 2025

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AAD) is set to enhance monitoring of trucks and containers using new systems by 2025. The ‘Vehicle and Container Monitoring System’ is integrated into Greece 2.0 and is funded by the Recovery Fund. It’s part of ongoing projects in the Strategic Plan for 2025. This system complements AAD’s planned control barriers for combating tax evasion this year. It involves checking and recording trucks and containers as they cross land borders or port customs, along with digital tracking within Greece via GPS devices. With an €80 million budget, completion is expected by Q4 2025. The system will effectively monitor truck activity at borders and ports, scanning license plates at checkpoints, verifying driver documents, and weighing trucks to prevent overloading. Advanced technology like X-ray scanning and CCTV will be employed, alongside GPS devices to track vehicles nationwide. All features will integrate with other systems and authorities.
