In the footsteps of a criminal organization he put into Greek, the Internal Affairs Service arrived on Saturday morning (21.09.2024) He even participated in the criminal organization with a very active role as a prison employee who received, transferred, imported and hid drugs in the kitchens where two incarcerated were then taken and traded. The prison clerk’s “carrying” started from 500 euros and reached 1,000 depending on the amount of drugs he would put in prison. Following the investigation of the authorities it has been shown that their action began in May 2024, and since then they have made at least 6 drug imports. At least three other people participated in the criminal organization, a private individual helping the foreign “work” of the prison officer and both incarcerated. All members of the organization made sure to be discreet and took strict counter-monitoring measures when transferring the money but also in between communications, using code words. Drugs called them “things”, “smoking”, “black”, “brown” while money called it “paper”. The police operation began Saturday morning when the prison officer was spotted in an island area picking up a person who had just landed from the ship. During physical control and investigations carried out in their homes were found, 29.23 gr. of cannabis, 8.17 gr. Methamphetamine, 22.65 gr. of herbal drug extracts, 3 mobile phones, 30 euros, 3 packs of mobile phone cards, 0.09 grams of heronine, 3 pistols and 12 blank cartridges. In the search carried out in the prison cells there were 10 improvised souvles, 2 improvised knives, improvised saw, razor and iron saw blade, 3 USB sticks, 1.36 gr of cannabis, 1.09 gr of narcotic substance and 1 mobile phone. The employee, beyond his involvement in drugs, had entered the prison a telephone connection and informed a prisoner’s companion of the forthcoming checks and information on his transfer. The case-file formed against them concerns, inter alia, offences of formation and membership of a criminal organisation, distinguished cases of drug trafficking in succession, bribery of a professional and continuous employee, violation of continuing service secrecy, violation of continued duty, illegal possession of weapons and cartridges, illegal possession of weapons in prison and provision of a mobile phone to a prisoner in a prison store. Arrested persons were taken to the competent prosecutor and referred to an investigator.
