At 9.3%, its percentage in the country declined in September this year from 10.7% in September 2023 and 9.5% in August 2024, reports the data of the Greek Statistical Authority ( ). The unemployed amounted to 437,648 people, decreasing by 65,905 people compared to September 2023 (13.1%) and 7,615 people compared to August 2024 (1.7%). In women, according to ELSTAT the unemployment rate rose to 11.4% from 13.4% in September last year and men to 7.6% from 8.6%. By large age groups, in group 15 – 24 years the unemployment rate was 16.3% from 23.1% in September 2023 and at age 25 – 74 years in 9% from 10%. According to ELSTAT’s labour force survey, employees amounted to 4,462,924 people, increasing by 66,317 people compared to September 2023 (1.6%) and by 4,272 people compared to August 2024 (0.1%). While persons under the age of 75 who are not included in the workforce, or “people outside the labour force” (people who do not work or seek employment), they amounted to 3,070,957 persons, taking a 16,974 reduction compared to September 2023 (0,5%) and an increase of 1,130 people compared to August 2024 (minor change).
