The majority of protesters at the rallies for the Tempes tragedy sent a clear message: justice must be served and those responsible must be punished, as documented by Prorata research. The survey titled ‘Messages from Protesters on February 28th’ was conducted between March 4th and 5th, 2025, among a sample of 720 individuals aged 17 and above who participated in the gatherings concerning Tempes, covering the entire country. According to the results, the main message from the protesters is that ‘justice must be delivered for the Tempes case and the guilty must be punished’ (76%). Following this, 46% conveyed the message that ‘we are here and you need to account for what has gone wrong in recent years.’ Additionally, 31% emphasized that measures should be taken so such incidents do not recur, while only 19% focused on uncovering the truth about the Tempes case. Regarding the target audience of the political message, 38% directly pointed to the current government of New Democracy, while 34% believe criticism is aimed primarily at the New Democracy government but also indirectly at previous governments of other parties. Lastly, 28% equally assign blame to all governments of recent years. Among the values motivating the protesters, ‘Justice’ ranked highest (87%), followed by ‘Transparency’ (40%), ‘Accountability’ (24%), ‘Security’ (23%), and ‘Dignity’ and ‘Solidarity’ each at 11%.
