70% Tax Evasion in Sectors Adopting Digital Receipts

Tax evasion remains alarmingly high in sectors that are first to adopt the digital receipt system. According to data from the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), the percentage of businesses evading taxes approaches a staggering 70%. Car repair shops lead with a 67% evasion rate, followed by car washes at 60%. Parking facilities also show significant tax avoidance, with 41% of businesses not declaring all their earnings. It’s worth noting that the use of digital receipts became mandatory as of July 1st for businesses in these sectors.
