Contracts for the acquisition of 581 vehicles to be integrated into the fleets of the Fire Service, Port Police, Ministry of National Defense, and Greek Police were signed by Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Giannis Kefalogiannis as part of the implementation of the ‘AEGIS’ program. These new vehicles will significantly enhance firefighting, civil protection, rescue, medical care capabilities, and overall response capacities of security forces. The Fire Service will receive 59 water carriers of three different types: all-terrain vehicles with a capacity of 350 liters of water, urban vehicles with a capacity of 1,000 liters, and extended-cabin all-terrain vehicles capable of transporting up to 6,000 liters of water each. The Port Police will be reinforced with 462 vehicles, primarily 431 motorcycles. The contracts also include the supply of vans for material and personnel transport, buses, road assistance vehicles, and one crane truck. The Ministry of Health will receive 37 ambulances – mobile intensive care units – and eight buses. Lastly, the procurement of 15 mini-buses measuring 6 to 7.5 meters is planned to meet the operational needs of the Greek Police.
