55-Year-Old Beekeeper Arrested for Fire in Aliki, Boeotia

Authorities have arrested a 55-year-old beekeeper in connection with a fire that broke out on Saturday (06/07/2025) in the Aliki area of Boeotia. According to the Fire Department, the man was detained for negligent arson during a beekeeping smoking process on agricultural and forest land, and was fined €8,860. Specifically, as announced by the Fire Service, “the suspect was arrested today within the framework of summary proceedings by officers from the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (D.A.E.E.) in cooperation with investigative officers from the Fire Department of Thebes. He is a Greek national, charged with negligent arson during the bee-smoking process, in violation of current legislation, in an area of Aliki, Thespiae region, Boeotia. A fine of €8,859.3 has been imposed. The suspect is currently in custody and will be brought before the competent investigator today.
