5 offers at the Skopje gas pipeline tender for Greece-North Macedonia

One step closer comes the construction of an interconnection between Greece and it , as the state company Nomagas completed a construction competition on the pipeline concerning its territory. In particular, this is a budget project of EUR 83.7 million and five different companies participated in the tender. It is two Italian, one Turkish, one Serbian and one Macedonian, as reported by the news media Vecer of Northern Macedonia. Nomagas is now invited to select a contractor by the end of this year so that gas interconnection construction work will then begin in the spring of 2025. The pipeline will be 67 km long within North Macedonia, a capacity of 1.8 billion m2 per year and should be completed with the accompanying projects within 34 months. It is worth noting that there was a delay of two years in the Nomagas competition in relation to the original timetable. Even so, the project can now begin by offering more interconnection in the wider area, but also a new outlet to the gas supplied by Alexandroupolis’ LNG terminal. This pipeline is funded by the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and by a loan from the Western Balkans Investment Framework. The above is worth adding that the Greek section of the pipeline has been undertaken by Terna for a budget of 15.8m euros.
