A 42-year-old man was arrested in Chania on Wednesday afternoon (June 18, 2025) after police uncovered an extensive arsenal hidden in his home. Officers from the Chania Crime Investigation and Tracking Department conducted a coordinated operation that led to the seizure of hundreds of weapons, including knives, swords, spears, bows, and other dangerous items. The individual now faces charges related to promoting violence, inciting hatred, and violating firearms legislation. Authorities discovered the cache following inflammatory posts made by the suspect on social media, where he encouraged violent acts against law enforcement, according to neakriti.gr. Among the seized items were two dynamites, seven air guns, five swords, 107 knives, 177 machetes (including 116 military-grade and 61 folding), three crossbows, three bows, 51 arrows, 24 hatchets, one rifle barrel, six telescopic sights, four clubs, one blowpipe with nine darts, one two-meter spear with a customized black blade, four magazines, 741 bullets of various calibers, nine throwing stars (shuriken), and three slingshots. Additionally, digital devices such as tablets, action cameras, a camera, a mobile phone, and three desktop units were confiscated. The preliminary investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Chania Crime Investigation and Tracking Department.
