It celebrates NISMO’s 40th anniversary. NISMO was founded on September 17, 1984 as Nissan Motorsport International Co. Limited and is Nissan’s motor sport and performance department. It represents the embodiment of the company’s commitment to performance, both on the track and on the streets. With a historic headquarters in Omori, Tokyo, NISMO was always the driving force behind Nissan’s most exciting vehicles and achievements in motor sport. The phrase “Track to road” incorporates NISMO’s goal to offer the ultimate Nissan performance for road car drivers, drawing inspiration and experiences from the toughest test field – the track. To celebrate the anniversary, Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery visitors to Yokohama, Japan can see a variety of NISMO models such as the extremely rare NISMO 270R and the unique NISMO 400R, along with legends of games such as Nissan R390 GT1, which took 3rd place in the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans, Nissan R91CP which won the 24 Hours of Daytona and the Calsonic Skyline GT-R Group A, the dominant of Japan Touring Car Championship (JTCC). In addition, vehicles from the current NISMO model series are exposed in Japan, including Ariya NISMO, AURA NISMO and FAIRLADY Z NISMO. The exhibition will last until Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Nissan’s head of motor sports worldwide and NMC Takao Katagiri president said: “We would like to thank everyone who supported NISMO since 1984. We intend to continue to offer speed, confidence and enthusiasm as in the past, so for the next decades. Our commitment “Track to road” today finds expression in our factory racing programs Super GT and Formula E”. Speaking of the future, Katagiri said: “Our goal is to offer enthusiasm to fans on the track and integrate knowledge from the track, into products customers can buy. Our long-term goal is to gradually expand our business worldwide, providing more exciting NISMO models to customers around the world.” The festival continues with the NISMO 2024 Festival, scheduled on December 1st at Fuji International Speedway (in Shizuoka province). This year’s festival is dedicated to the 40th anniversary of NISMO, paying tribute to the brand’s rich heritage, racing achievements and the development of high performance cars.
