The victim of the first murder carried out by the terrorist organization and was destined to change the data in Greece, remembers in a lengthy text of the Central Intelligence Agency of the united states, CLA.
Forty years after h. g. Wells “reliving” through the words and the american service pays tribute to the man who loved Greece, loved the Greek language and eventually “extinguished” in the country you want to live.

Until the day of his death, highlights the text, Wells was the most senior member of the CIA who lost his life, while a month before the deadly attack had received a promotion and was to celebrate the 46th birthday just nine days before the ambush that had been set by the terrorists.
Born in Connecticut the Wells he studied in a school in Rhode Island where he discovered his love of Greek and Latin, which led him to choose to study Greek History and Literature at Harvard.
In 1951, the Wells began to work for the CIA and went to Europe where he focused on languages and knowledge of the european policy, while it studied the new Greek to such an extent that, as pointed out in the Central Intelligence Agency “had impressed Greek-Americans and Greeks” because of his ability to speak in English.
“In the Spring of 1975 was asked by Dick to lead our service in Greece. Immediately agreed, because, for him, Greece was like to go home”, continues the text, in memory of the Wells.
“I’m pinching myself for the opportunity I was given to go to the country that I really love,” he said to his friends just announced his trip to Greece.
While he started working with “excitement and attention”, his identity was revealed, endangering him and his family.
“On the night of 23 December 1975, Dick and his family had attended a christmas party at the residence of the American ambassador. Upon returning home, Dick got out of the car to open the garage door. A man appeared, called out, and shot him. The wound was mortal,” says the text.
“In 2003, those responsible for the death of Dick, members of November 17 were arrested,” he points out the service and stresses that while they were condemned for murder and other diplomats, no one convicted of the murder of Wells.
“Dick was 46 years old when he died. Survived his wife and their three children, one daughter and two sons,” concludes the report of the CIA in the δολοφονηθÎντα Wells.
