A disturbing incident has come to light in the region of Chalkidiki, involving a 40-year-old man who was arrested for animal abuse. On Thursday, February 13, 2025, police in Polygyrou, Chalkidiki, apprehended the man following a complaint regarding animal mistreatment. According to police sources, the individual had kept two dogs on his property without adhering to proper welfare standards. Tragically, one of the dogs was found dead, while both were chained with no access to food or water for an extended period. The animal welfare organization ‘Strays of Halkidiki’ (Αδέσποτα της Χαλκιδικής) highlighted the case on Facebook, emphasizing the severe neglect suffered by the animals. As a result, the 40-year-old faces administrative penalties.
