A unique, glitter-filled event celebrating diversity and acceptance took place today (May 17, 2025) in the heart of Athens to mark International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. The 3K Glitter Run was organized by Athens Pride and LGBTQ+ Fitness, starting at Audis Square in Metaxourgeio. A large number of participants gathered in central Athens not only to take part in the race but also in parallel activities aimed at informing citizens about the cause and its demands. ‘We run because love doesn’t stay behind!’ organizers stated, emphasizing that the race is open to everyone regardless of gender, sexual orientation, physical condition, or experience. Philippos from the events department of Athens Pride expressed his excitement about the first outdoor running event for 2025, highlighting the celebration of bodily joy and identities. Angie from LGBTQ+ Fitness added that the race aims to celebrate diversity, love, and visibility by sharing color on the streets and honoring our bodies. The 3K Glitter Run aimed to combine sports with the right to be free and express oneself while reclaiming public space. Athens Pride 2025 will take place on June 14 (7:00 PM), starting at Syntagma Square.
