Thirty-four Cypriot motorcyclists from the Isaac–Solomou Memory Initiative arrived in Rhodes on Sunday afternoon, 12 July 2026, aboard a ferry. Their visit marks the 30th anniversary of the assassinations of Greek Cypriot activists Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou in the occupied areas of Cyprus.
The delegation’s trip forms part of a broader commemorative tour across Greece, honouring both the 52nd anniversary of the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus and three decades since the deaths of Isaac and Solomou—two prominent figures in the struggle against the occupation.
Upon arrival at the port of Rhodes, the motorcyclists were welcomed by members of the Cyprus Association of Rhodes, led by its president, George Symeonidis.
Commemorative Events Planned
The group will take part in official memorial events, including a Trisagion service and wreath-laying ceremony at the Altar of the Fatherland. A further commemoration is scheduled at the Municipal Theatre of Rhodes, featuring speeches, honorary awards, and a musical tribute dedicated to the two fallen heroes.
