A 26-year-old Greek man was arrested on the afternoon of May 9th in Aspropyrgos under a warrant for multiple thefts, specifically targeting vaults in Glyfada. In addition to these charges, he faced accusations for violating laws concerning narcotics, weapons, fireworks, and flares. According to an announcement from EL.A.S., besides the 26-year-old linked to the Glyfada vault thefts, a 61-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were also arrested for breaching weapon regulations and drug laws. The 26-year-old was found alongside the 64-year-old inside a vehicle in Aspropyrgos and was stopped for inspection. Among their possessions, authorities discovered two folding knives, a pen-type knife, small quantities of narcotics, leading to their transfer to the headquarters of the Pursuit and Detection of Crimes Department of Southeast Attica. A warrant had been issued against the 26-year-old for vault thefts from a company in Glyfada, which occurred in April this year, resulting in financial losses exceeding €130,000. It was noted that the suspect was identified as part of a gang involved in thefts from apartments, professional spaces, and public services across Attica. During searches conducted at residences in Attica and with assistance from Sparta’s Crime Pursuit Department at a hotel room in Laconia where the 23-year-old was located, items seized included a pistol, loaded magazines, a telescopic sight, electric shock device (taser), skeleton keys, five detonators, two wireless devices, crowbars, swords, lock-picking tools, numerous mobile phones, and €200 in cash. Lastly, the 26-year-old had five outstanding convictions for theft, illegal possession of weapons, and unpaid debts, while the 61-year-old had a history of similar offenses. The case has been referred to the competent prosecutor, and the 26-year-old is being transferred to a detention center.
