The grand and spectacular military parade held today (March 25, 2025) to commemorate the Greek War of Independence moved people of all ages who gathered at Syntagma Square. The Armed Forces and Security Corps honored the heroes who ignited the flame of revolution 204 years ago. During the parade for the 25th of March, the Armed Forces showcased modern weapon systems, equipment, and vehicles used for threat deterrence. As expected, the combat aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force left a lasting impression as they soared across the Attica skies. Through this display, Greek military forces sent a clear message of strength, symbolizing not only operational capabilities but also readiness. Before the armored vehicles, battle tanks, and military aircraft captured everyone’s attention, the Underwater Demolition Teams (U.D.T.) of the Hellenic Navy set the tone by passionately singing their hymn at Zappeion. The parade began with War Veterans, followed by the three Volunteer Corps of the Red Cross. The Presidential Guard led the infantry units, setting a tone of respect and honor. The Hellenic Air Force provided an impressive aerial show with formations from Rafale, F-16 Viper, F-4 Phantom jets, and M-346 training aircraft. Notably, the Rafale and F-16 Viper are Greece’s most advanced combat jets. Also featured were mechanized and armored units of the Army, including Leopard 2 tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles, MLRS multiple rocket launchers, and self-propelled howitzers like the M-109 and PzH 2000. The parade also included parachute troops, marines, national guards, and various specialized units. It concluded with flyovers of transport planes like C-130 and C-27J, firefighting aircraft Canadair CL-215, and attack helicopters such as Kiowa Warrior, Huey, and Apache.
