Reporter Casey Hinds of WPLG Local 10 found herself at the center of an unexpected and chaotic scene during a live broadcast outside the stadium in Miami ahead of Scotland’s match against Brazil in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
A Microphone, a Chant, and a Quick Apology
As Hinds delivered her report, a group of exuberant, visibly intoxicated Scottish fans passed by. One man grabbed the microphone and shouted, “We love Miami… F***ing Scotland! F***ing Scotland!” The explicit outburst forced Hinds to immediately apologize to viewers on air.
After she gently but firmly pulled the mic away, the fan returned moments later—this time offering his own apology. Social media users quickly shared clips and reactions, including one Floridian account joking, “Florida: Come on vacation, leave on probation. Return on violation hahaha… but anyway, glad to see the Scottish are enjoying the Miami World Cup vibe as much as we do!”
‘No Scotland, No Party’
The disruption didn’t end there. More Scottish supporters gathered around Hinds, chanting “No Scotland, no party” as cameras rolled. She later explained, “I apologize to our viewers for the language that was heard. These individuals had been drinking all day.”
The incident comes amid reports from Boston Beer Co., which noted that Scottish fans in Miami consumed four times the volume of beer typically shipped for major U.S. holiday periods—such as the Fourth of July—prompting the company to arrange emergency beer deliveries to meet demand.
