2026 Insurance Contributions: 2.5% Rise for Self-Employed, New Cap at €7,761.94

A 2.5% increase in insurance contributions for all self-employed individuals—including freelancers, independent professionals, and former OAEE insured persons—takes effect on January 1, 2026, as published in the Government Gazette. The adjustment follows the 2025 Consumer Price Index and applies uniformly across all pension contribution categories. The monthly maximum insurable earnings cap also rises by 2.5%, reaching €7,761.94—above which no further contributions accrue. For self-employed and freelance professionals, main pension contribution amounts are updated to: €185.09 (Category 1), €222.12 (Cat. 2), €281.82 (Cat. 3), €354.66 (Cat. 4), €440.64 (Cat. 5), €597.06 (Cat. 6), and €111.06 (Special Category). Former OAEE insured persons see identical 2.5% hikes for both main pension and Agricultural Housing Fund (LAE) contributions: main pension ranges from €108.67 (Cat. 1) to €352.28 (Cat. 6); LAE contributions range from €2.39 (Cats. 1–2) to €7.16 (Cat. 6). Health insurance contributions—separately calculated for cash and in-kind benefits—also rise by 2.5%. For self-employed/freelancers: health in cash is €5.97 (Cat. 1) and €7.16 (Cats. 2–6); health in kind is €59.71 (Cat. 1) and €71.65 (Cats. 2–6); Special Category pays €3.58 (cash) and €35.82 (in kind). Former OAEE members pay €3.58 (cash health) across all categories; in-kind health is €34.63 (Cat. 1) and €41.79 (Cats. 2–6). Monthly totals range from €149.27 (ex-OAEE Cat. 1) to €404.81 (ex-OAEE Cat. 6), and from €250.77 (freelancer Cat. 1) to €150.46 (Special Category).
