You probably have seen these… laser that a lot of you guys have like a game. What you may not know however, is how dangerous they can be for your children.
Surely you have heard how you can’t put a light in the eyes with them, and there’s a reason for that. A teenager, however, caused permanent damage to his eyes. Was 14 that he began to lose his sight all of a sudden. The ophthalmologist was shocked when he realized what had happened. Ben Armitage said of his patient:
“He had recently taken a pen laser, and, unfortunately, had a shine in his eyes for a short period of time.”
From the looks of it, 75% of the vision in each eye is lost because of this incident. Listen to what this doctor has to say about the incident:
“The back part of the eye appears to have burns from the laser, so, in essence, managed to burn the retina of the eye.”
Lost almost immediately his sight, without feeling pain, and from the looks of it neither surgery, nor glasses improve the problem.
If your child has a similar toy, make sure she understands how dangerous it can be, although it is best not to have any contact with such objects.
