12.514 destitute Ileioi are still waiting for the… chickens

In vain are waiting for food aid in the state thousands of Ileioi our fellow citizens, where among them is infants and …
children 3-4 years of age, but the help never comes in spite of pressure from the seven Municipalities and the Region of Western Greece to the central authority.
The problem that has arisen with the implementation of the Food Programme 2014-2020 has victims around 12,500 poor in the prefecture of Elis, who are still waiting for the help in food and other essentials, while the program is supposed to be implemented since last October! We are in calendar in the third year of the programme and has still not come to the help.
A chicken!
The grotesque is that the only food aid that is to be given (whenever paid) to the beneficiaries of the program is… one chicken per family!
It is unacceptable and offensive to the beneficiaries of the programme the moment they put on their own personal fight for survival to be mocked in this way by the government. A chicken per family is not food aid, nor does it signify the humanity and solidarity of the government towards all those who are in a difficult financial position and faced a problem of survival.
Undue delay
It raises questions why the government can’t implement smoothly a program which has secured funding. It is unknown what hinders the smooth opening and operation of the food aid programme who are waiting for thousands of families in Ilia. The no reason delay the tender process (for the supply of food) creates a big problem in Local Authorities, since they are not allowed even to start the necessary procedures for the conduct of their own competitions, in order to meet the food needs of the beneficiaries until the end of 2016.
For the story to say that the funds coming from the FEAD(Fund for European Aid Needy). It’s a great program that will last until 2019. The Fund for European Aid to the most Deprived (FEAD) supports actions related to the collection, transfer, storage, distribution of food and Basic Material Assistance.
The distribution of food (one chicken per family!) and, of course, and children’s (baby milk etc) had to be done within 2015.
