Early this morning on 1 July 2026, Greek authorities from the Sports Violence Unit carried out a large-scale operation across Attica, resulting in the arrest of 10 organized fans of Panathinaikos FC — one of Greece’s most prominent football clubs.
Charges Include Attempted Murder, Extortion, and Robbery
The suspects are accused of involvement in a criminal organization and currently remain in custody at the General Directorate of Police (GADA) pending transfer to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. According to the official file, a total of 39 individuals are implicated in the case.
Charges against the arrested individuals include founding and participating in a criminal organization; arson and explosions endangering human life; manufacturing and possessing explosives; attempted murder; bodily harm; destruction of third-party property; robbery; extortion; violations of weapons and fireworks laws; narcotics-related offenses—including possession and trafficking—and breaches of sports legislation.
Seven Accused of Neglecting Supervision of Minors
Seven of the suspects also face charges related to neglecting their duty of supervision over minors.
According to preliminary findings made public so far, the alleged criminal group has been active since at least August 2025.
