In a state of alarm is in the last days the energy system of the country following the serious problems of competence which have emerged due to the extreme weather conditions.
In the last days the system is in level “alarm 2” and indicative of the situation is the recent appeal of the minister of Energy, Giorgos Stathakis consumers to avoid unnecessary consumption of electricity and natural gas from six in the evening until midnight.
It is worth noting that it was preceded by and a relative of a meeting with the people involved in smooth supply of the country with a stream (p.p. PPC, admie s. a, DEPA, DESFA, HEDNO, RAE), the ministry points out that the recommendation for reduced consumption is only for precautionary reasons.

It is significant that on Monday night (9/01/2017) the consumption of electricity made a record five years, reaching at 9.300 megawatts!!!
All-time record on Monday and the consumption of natural gas reaching 290.000 megawatt hours.
And this, as well as the power plants worked at full to meet the demand, with the result that stocks of DESFA at Revithoussa to fall to marginal levels.
The immediate measures was to reduce the gas consumption by units and industries, and while today it’s unloaded at the premises of DESFA an emergency shipment of gas from the Algeria of 114 000 cubic. It was preceded by the other day another load of 140,000 cubic.
At the same time have been banned since last Tuesday (10/01/2017) exports power to the neighbouring countries of Albania, Fyrom, Bulgaria and Turkey, a move that will offers to the system 150 megawatts, while the weight of today falls into the hydroelectric power of the PPC that will be in full operation (about 2,400 megawatts).
Also the factory of Aluminium of Greece will be offering through contracts διακοψιμότητας 200 megawatts, while from last night reopened and the power plant in Amyntaio, Florina had a few days ago been knocked out.
Weeks are out of service four lignite units of the PPC, including two of St. Demetrios, which are in scheduled tasks desulfurization, a unit of the Heart and an Intense. The condition for not to go to the next alarm stage (3) is not to be another failure in the finally unit.
Otherwise, there is a ready mechanism which is activated automatically by rotating cuts to supply to households and businesses.
The concern of the authorities is intense since the weather phenomena are still hard and the citizens are forced to consume more energy.
